Panasonic's reliable, semi-rugged, desktop replacement Toughbook CF-52 notebook comes with embedded next generation wireless (3G) and widescreen. Engineered to withstand the risks of mobility, the Panasonic Toughbook 52, is built on the new Santa Rosa chipset from Intel, and offers all the processing power of a desktop replacement notebook for mobility.

This new widescreen semi-rugged Toughbook is equipped with added security features (as compared to its predecessor, the Toughbook CF-51). It comes with a new carrying handle and optional embedded access to next-generation wireless data networks from major carriers. This MIL-SPEC-certified notebook's durable design features include magnesium alloy cases, flexible internal connectors and shock-mounted HDDs and LCDs.

Toughbook CF-52 has a battery life of 4-7 hours, depending on the usage environment and configuration. This semi-rugged Toughbook is certified to the MIL-STD-810F standard and tested to withstand impacts, vibrations, extreme temperatures and drops of up to 2.5 feet on all six sides. The HDD itself is tested to bear a drop of 3 feet. The Toughbook 52 also sports a spill-resistant keyboard.

Now, all Panasonic's Toughbook notebooks incorporate a wireless-ready design that allows customers to initially purchase or later upgrade to embedded access to next-generation data networks. The Toughbook CF-52 ships with optional embedded access to the EV-DO Rev. A. mobile broadband network of Verizon Wireless. The integrated WLAN and Bluetooth help users stay connected, wherever their work.

To protect valuable data and enable customers to comply with data security regulations, the Toughbook CF-52 comes with the Trusted Platform Module (TPM v1.2) security chip, and the Computrace software agent in BIOS. Optional fingerprint scanner and SmartCard reader are also available.

The CF-52 configuration has the new Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 & P6400 processors at 2.26GHz and 2.4GHz, the Intel GMA 4500MHD chipset with integrated 256MB UMA VRAM on Vista, 1920 x 1200 WUXGA widescreen, 1GB of DDR2 system memory (max. 2GB+2GB), and an 160GB SATA HDD (quick-release).

Panasonic Thoughbook CF-52 configurations have a DVD Super Multi Drive with Dual Layer Support, wireless LAN 802.11a/b/g/n, Gigabit Ethernet, a 56k modem, and Bluetooth, and an optional EV-DO or HSDPA broadband connectivity. Both versions have PC Card, ExpressCard, and Secure Digital card slots, including four USB ports, and Serial, Firewire, and VGA ports.
