The Portable, Rugged GETAC V100 Rugged Tablet Convertible
The portable GETAC V100 Rugged Notebook Computer rests safe in a magnesium alloy case with a fan-less design and removable HDD. The GETAC V100 weighing 4.9lbs is powered by the high performance Intel Core 2 Duo 1.2 GHz processor, 1GB DRAM and a 120 GB HDD. The fully rugged GETAC V100 complies with the American military's MIL-STD-810F standard for withstanding shocks, drops, humidity, vibrations and extreme temperatures. With a dustproof and waterproof chassis, the V100 also meets the International Protection Rating of IP54. The GETAC V100's butch styling reflects its military toughness with knurled plastic that protects every edge and shock-absorbing rubber cushions at every corner. Ports are sealed by rubber-edged plastic flaps and it can withstand drops from a height of 1 meter.
The GETAC V100 Rugged Notebook Computer's HDD, the most sensitive and important hardware, is shielded by a protection mechanism to prevent damage during operation. The HDD is suspended in a slide-out metal caddy and equipped with a drop sensor to park the heads in the event of a fall. The HDD and the battery are safeguarded by the sturdy magnesium doors, kept shut by dual catches. The GETAC V100 displays a 10.4" or 12.1" LCD screen that rotates by 180 degrees making it a user-friendly Tablet PC. To suit the mobile needs, the optional touchscreen is quite impressive, works well with either the tethered telescopic stylus or a finger, although a digitiser and active stylus (with XP Tablet Edition) are also available. The V100 is a replacement system for the Panasonic Toughbook CF19 with an identical footprint and docking connector arrangement allowing it directly usable with most CF18 and CF19 Docking Cradles.
The judicious selection of optional extras allows the V100 to extend its functionalities to a wider range of applications. Bluetooth, 802.11abg and gigabit Ethernet come as standard, but you can supplement these with GPS, which replaces the webcam, HSDPA or EVDO. If you like, there are other exotic options including a rubber backlit keyboard, a low temperature upgrade for working down to -20°C, and a vehicle docking station with port replicate.
The V100 offers an optional handstrap affixed to its underside, allowing you to carry the Getac V100 around for prolonged periods with ease, no need of a carry bag. With an impressive 5 hours battery life under light use, you won't need to return to the mains too often. When compared to similar convertible tablets, it has a spacious keyboard, a relatively bright screen and wide scope for customization
