The GETAC M230's magnesium-alloy casing; oversized, removable carrying handle; thick rubber pads on the corners; and inset rubber and double-latching bay and port covers, make the M230 wear-and-tear ready, handy and robust for the rough and tough field conditions. Its punch-proof touch screen and perfectly silent operation with minimal heat output are the special features. It is priced below most of the competitors' lightweight portable computers.

The GETAC's fully rugged MobileForce M230 laptop computer meets the military standards (810F, 461E) for vibrations, drops, impacts, temperatures extremes and electromagnetic disturbances; and industry standards (IP54) for dust, moisture and water infiltration. The M230 powered by a 1.5GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Low Voltage Processor provides the mobile technology for real speed and wireless portability. It sports a versatile Media Bay and removable HDD bay. The M230's 1.5GHz processor is enhanced with up to 4 GB of DDR2 SDRAM, a 677 MHz FSB, and quick-swappable HDDs (120, 160 GB or 250 GB). The M230's Media Bay can support an optical drive (DVD-RW Dual Multi Drive Module) or a second battery.

The M230's removable HDD bay enables users to remove the HDD with ease. Removing the HDD allows multiple users to share the same laptop but not the HDD, safeguarding the confidential information. The police, fire officials, and utility workers can leave their computers in their vehicles, but remove the HDD at the end of the shift to finish their reports at their desks.

Further, the shock-mounted HDD, and spill-resistant keyboard and touch pad make them withstand mishaps. The M230N is specially designed to survive the extreme use and meet the needs of the field warriors in service, utilities, construction, telecommunications, military, police, fire and emergency services (EMS). This is also very useful for those who are into data collection in Science & Technology projects, and oil and gas exploration where blowing winds and heavy rain; 3-foot drops and vibrations off the backs of trucks and cars; and temperature extremes from -20 to +55º C, are quite common.

The M230N is a powerful notebook computer which features a large, bright 14.1" TFT XGA LCD (optional Sunlight Readable) screen with 128MB of shared RAM that displays vibrant images whether indoors or outdoors. An optional outdoor direct sunlight readable display and (optional) A/R reflective coating are also available. Optional touchscreen that suits the on-the-go and in-vehicle users is available as well.

The main battery powers the M230 for up to 5 hours with an optional second battery that adds two more hours if needed. The optional vehicle mount or docking allows the unit to recharge and function continuously. The M230 offers the users the most needed field flexibility in the configuration.
