The Durabook D14RY Rugged Laptop
The slim multifunctional D14RY Durabook rugged laptop from Twinhead Corporation is built to meet the U.S. military 810F standards for rugged performance, and the unit can withstand drops of 29 inches onto hard surfaces. The D14RY Durabook is specially designed for harsh environments such as military field duty, oil-drilling platforms, factory floors, traveling, etc.
The D14RY Durabook comes with a tough silver-and-black magnesium alloy chassis, rubber bumper guards on the corners, offering higher survival rate after drops, impacts and bumps. The D14RY Durabook is powered by Intel Core 2 Duo processor and incorporates state of the art technology. The D14RY has a spill proof keyboard, touchpad and buttons; and innovatively designed and ruggedized anti-shock mountings that protect the HDD from damage and data loss. The Durabook's magnesium casing behind the 14.1" TFT Panel with XGA resolution 1024X768 Pixel protects it from vibrations and drops and looks tough.
The D14RY's special optical disk tray lock prevents unintentional tray ejections. The double-protected smart battery circuitry prevents damage from current or voltage surges and overheating and the Twinhead's Smart Battery Calibration reduces the loss of battery capacity after repeated charge-discharge cycles. The Durabook's battery lasts impressive 2 to 3 hours (depending on the conditions) and for longer running times, a nine-cell battery is also available. The optional TPM (Trusted Platform Module) 1.2, the special hardware-based security technology offered in the D14RY, protects data.
The easy-to-carry D14RY Durabook, weighing 5.9 pounds and measuring 1.4x12.3x10.1, comes with a standard selection of ports and slots, including three USB 2.0 ports, a FireWire jack, a PC Card slot, a four-format flash-memory reader, a VGA connector, a SmartCard reader, and a serial port. For wireless and network connectivity, there are modem and Ethernet jacks. Other features in the D14RY include 60/80/100 GB hard drives and integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950. Users can also choose from a supplemental combo drive, DVD Dual, or Super-Multi DVD drive. The D14RY is integrated with Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Pro/Wireless LAN 3945 ABG (802.11a/b/g), (Bluetooth is optional.)
